STATEMENT OF LYNN WOOLSEY (D-CA) IN SUPPORT OF THE LOCKED OUT RIO TINTO WORKERS March 9, 2010 Nearly 600 workers at the Rio Tinto mine in Boron, California have been locked out of their jobs since January 31, 2010, and I call on Rio Tinto to end the lockout now. The Company must resume contract negotiations immediately and in good faith to ensure fair pay, good benefits, decent working hours and safe conditions for these hard-working employees. They and their families should not have to suffer as both sides seek a fair resolution to this dispute.
